SERVICES PROVIDED BY CAPTAIN HUGENOT


1. MARINE SURVEY SERVICES:
   CONDITION AND VALUATION SURVEY (CVS): Generally known as the insurance survey this is a several hour inspection which estgablishes the basic condition and value of the vessel, and is for underwriting purposes only.


    YACHT LISTING / REPAIR SURVEY (YLR): This inspection takes a bit longer than a CVS and the intent is to find out everything that needs to be repaired on the vessel, what is not functioning, what needs to be brought up to the latest standards. etc. Owners use this survey to prepare for shipyard overhauls. Listing brokers use this survey to prepare the vessel for re-sale.


    PRE-PURCHASE SURVEY (PPS): This inspection takes about the same amount of time as the YLR, but is done for the prospective buyer instead of the current owner. The purpose is the same as the YLR with the added caveat that the b uyer intends to discount the asking price by the value of the necessary repairs found by the surveyor.


    POWER & SAIL- WOOD, FIBERGLASS, STEEL & ALUMINUM: Captain Hugenot has been surveying them all for over 30 years. He is also performs expert Mechanical and Electrical surveys.


     MARINE INSURANCE CLAIMS INVESTIGATIONS: Captain Hugenot has provided independent investigations, forensic accident reconstruction and written expert opinions for numerous marine claims adjusters throughout North America.


2. NAVAL ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES: 


 YACHT REMODLE / UPGRADE OVERSIGHT: When you want to remodle redecorate and redesign an older yacht to suit your personal preferences Capt. Hugenot is expert at coordinating all the players in such an undertaking. As your Naval Architect he functions very similar to what an Architect would do when you remodle a residence.

     

    YACHT REPOWERING: Removing the older engines and replacing them with new engines, or just rebuilding them in place is a major project. Capt. Hugenot has done this for many owners. He handles the quality assurance and quality control functions as your Naval Architect.


3. YACHT BROKERAGE SERVICES:


    LISTING YACHTS FOR SALE: Capt. Hugenot can connect your yacht with the new owner it deserves. He strives to make the entire sales process very easy for his clients.


    HELPING BUYERS FIND THE RIGHT YACHT: This service is all about providing information. Capt. Hugenot helps his clients define their needs in a yacht, and then assists them to discover and purchase the right boat for suit their needs.


4. MARITIME EXPERT WITNESS: (see Expert page)


     He is a recognized expert in Hull, Marine Mechanical & Marine Electrical: superyacht, charter vessel and fishing vessel operations including Navigation sea conditions and weather.


     He has over 75 published articles on these subjects (available through this website) and he is the current National Chairman of the Motor Yacht Panel for The Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME) Small Craft Committee, and he serves in an expert advisory capacity to the Hull Piping and Electrical Committees for the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC). And he previously served for nine years as a principle member of the Marine Fire Boat committee for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). And for three years he was expert consultant to the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) on Motor Pleasure Yachts and small craft. He brings all this expertise and experience to his survey work for clients.  


     Captain Hugenot has appeared in open court as a qualified expert witness at the state and federal level, or given sworn testimony at dispositions during discovery, or written expert opinions prior to litigation in over 30 cases tried before the U.S. Federal courts in Admiralty and in the state courts of Califonria and New York.  A listing of his past case work is available upon request to admiralty lawyers considering litigation.
